AGES 3 THROUGH 22

If you are interested in special education for students ages 3 through the school year of the 22nd birthday, then you will want to know more about Article 7. That is the short name for the Special Education Rules put forth by the Indiana State Board of Education in line with the federal law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Article 7 describes the procedures that public schools must follow in providing services to students who qualify for special education. It includes rules for serving students in non-public setttings, procedural safeguards, confidentiality, identification and evaluation, eligibility criteria, determining special education services, related services, transition, discipline procedures, and dispute resolution procedures, along with other administrative rules.
